Most working photographers do not outgrow Dropbox because it stops working. They outgrow it because the bill creeps, the storage tiers force them into Business plans they do not need, and there is no one human to call when something goes wrong. Vault is a smaller, slower, more personal alternative for that exact moment.

- Dropbox Plus caps at 2 TB. The next real tier is Business at multiples of the price, sold by seat.
- Files staged through the Dropbox sync engine get reorganized into its folder shape, not yours.

When Vault is the better fit
If you have somewhere between 500 GB and 50 TB of work you need offsite, you want one predictable bill, and you would rather know the person behind your archive than file a ticket. Vault is a small product on purpose. If you need shared seats with granular permissions for ten people in three departments, Business-tier Dropbox is probably still the right tool.
